Description:
In this Workshop, the evolution of wireless technologies will be presented and their characteristics analyzed in terms of bandwidth, cost, performance and availability.
A mix of these technologies is a valid and cost-effective solution to solve the digital divide suffered by many Developing Countries. Training at the level of Academic and Research institutions on the subject of the Workshop are essential to develop sustainable human capacity in those countries. The Workshop is addressed to a limited number of candidates coming from Academic and Research institutions of Developing Countries and having an adequate working knowledge of IP networking. The programme will include tutorial lectures and laboratory work, where wireless solutions will be experienced through hands-on-sessions.
WORKSHOP TOPICS include:
•Basics of Wireless Networking
•Spectrum Management and Regulatory Issues
•Wireless Standards, Infrastructure and Topologies
•Radio Link Power Budget Calculation
•Antennas, Cables and Connectors
•Wireless Security and Network Monitoring Management
•Mesh Networking
•WiMax and Non-standard Solutions
In this Conference, both Workshop participants, Telecom Administrations, Regulators and Operators, and international experts will report and discuss the most advanced communication solutions for environmental monitoring. In particular, the following topics will be covered (i) most advanced and cost-effective wireless ICT solutions (ii) training schemes, economic studies and regulatory framework needed to foster the use of wireless solutions and (iii) case studies presentations and results of the technical discussions.
