Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) System Description and Characteristics;
AP-600 NPP Overview - a representative candidate for the new generation
of advanced PWR; Discuss differences between the German Design versus
U.S. Design; Demonstrate Simulation Effects by using PWR Simulator
Presentation of PWR Core Model and Demonstrate Reactor Controls
(Dark & Gray Rods) using the PWR Simulator. Demonstration of some
PWR Simulator Exercises, to illustrate general features and the capabilities
of the simulator, and how to operate and interact with it
PWR Simulator Exercises - (a) Hands-on interaction with the simulator – freeze, run, IC, malfunctions, etc. (b) Review each major PWR subsystem, (c) Practice power maneuver
Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) System Description and Characteristics; ABWR (GE Design) Overview - a representative candidate for the new generation of advanced BWR; Demonstrate Simulation Effects using
Having experienced with the CANDU, PWR and ABWR Simulator in the
previous workshop sessions, the participants will have the opportunity in
this session to explore the Benefits of Classroom Simulator for education,
and to discuss how they may use the simulator for educational training in
their home countries. As well, participants will be exposed to the simulation
technology for the development of this type of simulator, using Modular
Modeling Methodology. In this context, CASSIM™? Software package will be
introduced, along with Dynamic Simulation Fundamentals and the Overview
of CASSIM™ Simulation Model Building Process.
Using CASSIM™? S/W and following presentation examples, participants will develop Reactor Point Kinetic Model, linked with Reactor Feedback Effects Model; run trends and debug the integrated model.
As continuation of the modeling exercise, the participants will complete the simple Overall PWR Plant model, using CASSIM™? S/W and following the presentation examples.
